Consultant-led urology and andrology at HCA Healthcare UK Canary Wharf Outpatients, Level 1, 40 Bank Street, London E14 5NR.

HCA Healthcare UK Canary Wharf Outpatients

The Andrology Centre sees patients at HCA Healthcare UK Canary Wharf Outpatients, on Level 1 of 40 Bank Street, about three minutes’ walk from Canary Wharf Underground station. This page covers how to get there by Tube, Elizabeth line, DLR or river, how to fit an appointment around work on the estate, and what you can be seen for.

Where is the urology clinic in Canary Wharf?

The clinic is at HCA Healthcare UK Canary Wharf Outpatients, Level 1, 40 Bank Street, Canary Wharf Estate, London E14 5NR. For a step-by-step walking route from your station or pier, use TfL’s Journey Planner or the directions link on HCA’s Canary Wharf Outpatients page.

HCA describes the centre as designed with professionals in mind and all on one floor, and says appointments there can include scans, biopsies, consultations and results. Urology is among the specialties HCA lists at the site. Our other two clinics, HCA at The Shard and Private Care at Guy’s, are both near London Bridge station.

How do I get to 40 Bank Street by public transport?

Canary Wharf is served by the Jubilee line, the Elizabeth line, the DLR and River Bus boats.

Jubilee line

Canary Wharf station sits between Canada Water and North Greenwich on the Jubilee line, which runs from Stanmore to Stratford. From London Bridge it is three stops, via Bermondsey and Canada Water. TfL lists the station as connecting with both the DLR and the Elizabeth line.

Elizabeth line

Canary Wharf is on the Abbey Wood branch of the Elizabeth line, between Custom House and Whitechapel. Heading west, trains run through Whitechapel, Liverpool Street, Farringdon, Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street to Paddington, and some continue towards Heathrow or Reading. Heading east, they serve Custom House, Woolwich and Abbey Wood.

DLR

Three DLR stations serve the estate: Canary Wharf, Heron Quays and West India Quay. South of the estate, the line runs through South Quay, Crossharbour, Mudchute and Island Gardens, then continues to Cutty Sark, Greenwich, Deptford Bridge, Elverson Road and Lewisham. To the west it serves Westferry, Limehouse (for National Rail) and Shadwell (for the London Overground).

River Bus

Canary Wharf Pier is a stop on River Bus route RB1, between Tower Pier and Greenland Surrey Quays Pier. Further downstream, RB1 calls at piers including Greenwich, North Greenwich and Royal Wharf. TfL also lists route RB4 between Rotherhithe Pier and Canary Wharf Pier. The walk from the pier to Bank Street is longer than from the stations, so allow extra time; TfL’s Journey Planner gives the walking time.

Can I fit an appointment around work on the estate?

Often, yes. An in-person initial consultation is booked for up to 40 minutes and a follow-up for up to 20, which makes it easier to plan around work, although travel, waiting and any tests may add time. Tell us when you book which times usually suit you; we will offer what is available but cannot promise a particular slot.

If your health insurance comes through your employer, check the policy first: insurers usually want a GP referral and pre-authorisation. HCA lists GP appointments at Canary Wharf Outpatients, but confirm with your insurer that a private GP referral is acceptable.

What can I see a urologist about at Canary Wharf?

You can book here for the same problems we see at our other clinics, from erection problems and suspected low testosterone to prostate symptoms or a raised PSA; our general urology page lists the wider range.

Our consultants are Mr Maj Shabbir and Ms Raveen Kaur Sandher, Consultant Urological Surgeons whose practice covers andrology, male infertility, microsurgery and genito-urethral reconstruction, and Ms Elsie Mensah, Urology Specialist, who focuses on bladder cancer, benign prostatic enlargement and prostate cancer diagnostics. All three practise at Guy’s & St Thomas’, named by Newsweek in 2025 as the number one urology service in Europe. When you book, we will tell you who is available at Canary Wharf; our guide to andrologists and urologists explains the difference.

Whether a particular test can be done at Canary Wharf depends on the test, so your consultant will tell you where yours will be done. If it is at one of our London Bridge clinics, that is three stops away on the Jubilee line.

How do I book, and can I have a video appointment?

Call +44 7889 318584 (lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm), email contact@theandrologycentre.co.uk, or use our contact page, and choose HCA at Canary Wharf. Self-funding patients do not need a GP referral. In-person initial consultations cost £300 to £350 depending on the consultant, and tests and procedures are quoted separately; our fees and insurance page has the full list.

If your first consultation does not need an examination, you can have it by video or telephone instead: up to 30 minutes, £300 with any of our consultants. It can help on days you are working from home. If you then need examining, the next appointment will be in person. Follow-ups, and Mr Shabbir’s second opinion with report, have their own fees, listed on the same page.

What if my symptoms are urgent?

Do not wait for a clinic appointment: our Canary Wharf clinic runs booked outpatient appointments, not emergency care. The NHS advises going to A&E immediately or calling 999 for sudden, severe pain in a testicle, testicle pain with feeling or being sick or tummy pain, or testicle pain that has lasted more than an hour or continues at rest, because the cause can be a twisted testicle, which needs treating quickly. Do not drive yourself.

Seek same-day help — call NHS 111 or go to A&E — if you suddenly cannot pass urine despite a full and painful bladder, if you are passing heavy bleeding or clots in your urine, or if you have a high temperature with shivering and pain in your back or side. Call 999 if you are very unwell. For blood in the urine without these features, the NHS advises an urgent GP appointment or NHS 111.

Frequently asked questions

Do I book through HCA or through The Andrology Centre?

The simplest way is to book with us directly: call, email or use our contact form, and choose HCA at Canary Wharf as your clinic. We will match you to the right consultant.

Which station is closest to 40 Bank Street?

Canary Wharf Underground (Jubilee line) station is about three minutes’ walk away. The Elizabeth line and DLR stations of the same name are separate stations, so allow a few more minutes from the Elizabeth line. Heron Quays DLR is also close by.

Is there parking at 40 Bank Street?

We do not hold reliable parking information for the building, so check with the Canary Wharf estate before you drive, and check any charges for your vehicle and route on TfL’s website. Public transport may well be simpler.

I use a wheelchair. Can I get to the clinic step-free?

We cannot confirm that for you yet. The clinic is on Level 1 of 40 Bank Street and we have not verified step-free access to the building, so please tell us your access needs when you book and we can check with HCA before your appointment. Lift availability at the Canary Wharf stations can change, so check TfL’s live step-free status for your station before you travel.

Can I work or take calls while I wait?

HCA says the Canary Wharf waiting areas have space to spread out, plug in, take calls and meet online. Please switch your phone to silent once you are called in for your consultation.

Is Canary Wharf the nearest of your clinics if I live in east London?

Often, if you live along the Jubilee line east of Canary Wharf or on the Elizabeth line’s Abbey Wood branch. Westbound Jubilee line trains from Stratford, West Ham, Canning Town and North Greenwich reach Canary Wharf before London Bridge, and London Bridge has no Elizabeth line station. From elsewhere, compare journeys on TfL’s Journey Planner.
