We see patients at HCA's outpatient centre in The Shard, at 32 St Thomas Street, London SE1 9BS, about two minutes' walk from London Bridge station. Use Entrance 5 on St Thomas Street, which is HCA's; the office and Viewing Gallery entrances are elsewhere.
Where is the London Bridge clinic?
Our London Bridge clinic is held at HCA at The Shard: HCA Healthcare UK's Shard Outpatients centre at 32 St Thomas Street, London SE1 9BS.
The Shard lists five numbered entrances, and only one is HCA's: Entrance 5, at 32 St Thomas Street (what3words: ///phones.vase.focus). Entrance 1, the office reception at 32 London Bridge Street, is strictly for the offices, and Entrance 2, on Joiner Street, is for the Viewing Gallery. Entrances 3 and 4, for the Shangri-La hotel and the restaurants, are also on St Thomas Street, so check the number on the door.
We also consult at Private Care at Guy's, a different building near the same station.
How do I get to The Shard?
Travel to London Bridge and walk: HCA puts The Shard Outpatients about two minutes from the Underground station. London Bridge is served by the Jubilee and Northern lines and by Southern, Southeastern and Thameslink trains.
National Rail rates London Bridge's rail platforms as step-free category A, with lifts and staff assistance. If you are arriving by Tube, check TfL's step-free information for the Underground platforms. HCA describes The Shard Outpatients as an accessible environment with a lift. If you have particular access needs, tell us when you book.

Bus routes are those TfL lists for London Bridge and can change, so check TfL's journey planner on the day.
If you drive, TfL's zone map places London Bridge station inside the Congestion Charge zone. TfL says the Ultra Low Emission Zone covers all London boroughs, so check that your vehicle meets its standards. HCA says parking at The Shard is limited and that there is an NCP car park a short distance away. HCA also says it can provide a parking discount code at booking; ask us whether this applies to your appointment.
Who is the London Bridge clinic most convenient for?
The Shard may be the most convenient of our three sites if you live, work or change trains near London Bridge:
- Borough, Bermondsey and Southwark (SE1 and SE16). Southwark is one stop west on the Jubilee line, Bermondsey one stop east.
- Waterloo. Two stops on the Jubilee line, via Southwark.
- The City (EC postcodes). Walk across London Bridge, or take the Northern line: The Shard lists Bank and Moorgate stations at about three minutes away.
- Rail commuters. The Shard lists direct rail routes to Cambridge, Bedford and Peterborough, and to Brighton and the south.
- Canary Wharf. The Jubilee line runs direct, via Canada Water and Bermondsey; The Shard lists Canary Wharf station at about six minutes away. Our Canary Wharf clinic at 40 Bank Street may be closer still.
Appointment availability, and where some investigations are done, can vary between our sites, so say if more than one would suit you.
What can I see a urologist or andrologist about at London Bridge?
Tell us briefly what is going on and we will confirm whether The Shard or another of our sites suits your appointment and any tests. Our consultants see people about general urology problems such as kidney stones and bladder symptoms; prostate conditions, including a raised PSA and difficulty passing urine; blood in the urine; erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease and low testosterone; and male fertility and testicular pain.
Andrology is the part of urology that deals with men's sexual and reproductive health. Our guide to andrologists and urologists explains the difference, but you do not need to decide before booking.
What does HCA have on site at The Shard?
HCA lists urology among the specialties at The Shard Outpatients, and lists MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray among the scans it offers there. If a scan is needed, your consultant will explain which test is right for you and what to expect.
Not every test happens in the same building: HCA notes that some departments, such as endoscopy, are a few minutes' walk from the centre. If a test is arranged elsewhere, we will tell you where, when and why.
How do I book a urologist at London Bridge?
Call +44 7889 318584 (lines open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm), email contact@theandrologycentre.co.uk or use our enquiry form, choosing HCA at The Shard as your clinic. We will confirm who you will see, when, and the building.
Self-funding patients need no GP referral. If you are claiming on insurance, your insurer will usually want a GP referral and pre-authorisation, and HCA asks you to bring the authorisation code.
Our consultation fees are published per consultant: an in-person initial consultation costs £350 (up to 40 minutes) with Mr Maj Shabbir, Consultant Urological Surgeon and Clinical Lead, or £300 with Ms Raveen Kaur Sandher, Consultant Urological Surgeon, or Ms Elsie Mensah, Urology Specialist. Ask which consultant is available at The Shard when you book. Tests and procedures are quoted separately; see fees and insurance. All three practise at Guy's & St Thomas', named by Newsweek in 2025 as the number one urology service in Europe, and Doctify shows 369 verified reviews across them, averaging 4.99.
Can I see a London Bridge urologist by video instead?
Yes, for many first appointments. A video or telephone initial consultation costs £300, whoever you see, and suits you if travelling is difficult or you mainly want to go through results or get a second opinion (a second opinion with a written report from Mr Shabbir is £350). If you then need an examination or a test, an in-person visit is arranged. Our first urology appointment guide explains what that involves.
When should I not wait for an appointment at The Shard?
Do not wait for a clinic appointment if any of these happen; The Shard clinic runs booked appointments, not emergency care:
- Testicle pain: the NHS advises going to A&E immediately or calling 999 for sudden, severe pain in a testicle, testicle pain with feeling sick, being sick or tummy pain, or testicle pain that has lasted more than an hour or continues when you are resting. Do not drive yourself to A&E; ask someone to take you or call 999.
- An erection that will not go down: the NHS advises calling 999 or going to A&E if an erection lasts more than 3 to 4 hours, or if you have sickle cell disease and a painful erection lasts more than 1 hour.
- Being unable to pass urine at all, despite a full and painful bladder, needs same-day emergency care, so go to your nearest A&E.
- Visible blood or clots in your urine, or a fever with shivering, pain in your side or back and pain on passing urine: get help the same day from NHS 111, your GP or an emergency department.
For urgent advice that is not an emergency, contact NHS 111.
Frequently asked questions
How will I know where to go when I arrive at The Shard?
Go in through Entrance 5 on St Thomas Street. HCA says its patient support team at The Shard Outpatients can help you find departments and locate your next appointment, and can help with insurer queries.
Can I bring someone with me to The Shard?
Only if it is arranged in advance. HCA asks patients to attend The Shard Outpatients unaccompanied. If you need assistance during your visit, a carer is allowed, but this must be arranged beforehand with HCA's concierge or your consultant's secretary, so tell us when you book.
Is The Shard Outpatients the same as London Bridge Hospital?
No. The Shard Outpatients is part of HCA's London Bridge Hospital campus, but London Bridge Hospital itself is a separate building at 27 Tooley Street. If a test is booked on the campus, check which building it is in.
Can I cycle to The Shard, or come by e-scooter?
You can cycle to London Bridge station, which National Rail lists as having bicycle storage and bicycle hire. The Shard does not allow e-scooters, e-bikes or other powered transport to be stored or charged in the building, so plan to leave one elsewhere.
Do I pay the Congestion Charge if I drive to The Shard?
Yes, if you drive within the zone during charging times: 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and noon to 6pm at weekends and on bank holidays. The charge is £18 a day, and there is no charge between Christmas Day and the New Year's Day bank holiday, inclusive. TfL can change these, so check before you travel.
Is there a pharmacy at The Shard?
HCA lists an on-site pharmacy at The Shard Outpatients. If you are given a private prescription, ask at the end of your appointment whether it can be dispensed there before you leave.
